Mr. Zimmer had already asked Leo why he'd thrown the first punch. Leo had said nothing. Not a word. Just pressed his lips together and stared at the floor.
So he'd called the emergency contact - the sister.
He looked at Quentin now, who was sprawled in his chair like the office belonged to him. Mr. Zimmer had been teaching for fifteen years. He knew the type. Quentin Rathbone had money behind him and he knew it, and he used it the way some kids used their fists - casually, without thinking much about the damage.
"This is ridiculous," Quentin said, for the third time. "I didn't do anything. He just came at me out of nowhere. I've got witnesses. Half the class saw it."
