Sienna had been racking her brain for days trying to win Rosalind's affection. She decided to take the child to an open-air pool party at a private estate in Malibu. The result was disastrous. By the time they returned to the city, Rosalind was burning up with a high fever.
The family doctor took one look at the thermometer and immediately referred them to the emergency room.
In the pristine white examination room, the ER doctor typed rapidly into the electronic medical record. "Mild pneumonia accompanied by a bronchial infection," he announced, his tone professionally detached. "She needs to be admitted for observation immediately."
