For a good five minutes, I just wandered around the empty roads, remembering how, whenever I used to come here with my father, I would see so many people walking around. But today, it was empty. The sun would come out soon and fully brighten up the areas where more dead bodies would be lying around.
I closed my eyes and placed my hand on my heart to calm my racing breaths. It wasn’t easy for me to go back outside and tell the people who had been hoping for shelter here that not only did we not have a place to call home, but my friend was missing too.
"He will be fine. He is an alpha," Evie tried her best to calm me down, but I couldn't be soothed. I was worried and in tears. I was scared for him and his safety.
