My eyes darted to Noah immediately after Asher mentioned the hunters. Her expression changed to a worried one and I could see the tears welling in her eyes.
Everyone was shocked by the news but I didn’t want to continue talking about it in front of her. I walked over the Asher and signaled we should take the conversation somewhere else.
I wanted to be with Noah and comfort her but I had no choice but to leave her alone with Dimitri and Katie. While Asher and I walked quietly downstairs, I couldn’t stop thinking about the danger we were all in.
What were the hunters doing in our town? We didn’t cause any trouble to humans and we stayed out of their business.
“I have even sadder news,” Asher said with his gaze on the floor. “Maxim is dead.” He announced.
