I glance down at my navy-blue Armani suit. “As a matter of fact, I did. It’s why I can dress the part now.”
She giggles. “Is it exciting? I bet it’s so exciting. I think… I think I want to be a spy one day, too.”
“A cartoonist by day and a spy by night. I can see it.”
She twists her fingers together, trying to wring out her nerves. Neither one of us has addressed the elephant in the room. I’m not about to leave it up to the nine-year-old.
