Jill looked at me through the screen of my phone. “You're afraid to lose Mikey to another woman,” she finally said after a minute.
I sighed. “I don’t know,” I told her, looking down.
“Hey, it’s okay to be attracted to him. You are allowed to have feelings,” Jill said.
“It’s complicated. He is a player on the team my father owns. That isn’t a good thing,” I replied.
“For who? Your father? From what I understand, you have sacrificed a lot for that man so that he looks good. But has he ever sacrificed for you and your happiness?” Jill asked.
“But it’s my job to make sure the team looks good,” I insisted.
“Yeah, and you're doing a great job of it. But be honest with yourself, Macey; you are not happy,” Jill said.
