I stood with my feet planted in the sand, staring out into the endless waves crashing onto the shoreline before they made their way to where I was standing. As the ocean’s cool water hit the tips of my toes, they instantly curled, kneading the softened sand beneath them, making me reminisce about the countless days I had spent on the beach as a child. Inadvertently, a smile slowly crept onto my face, knowing I was in my happy place once again, as there was no doubt in my mind this beach was the one my family and I used to frequent back home.
But as my eyes focused on the sun setting, causing the most beautiful hues of orange and red to reflect off the ocean’s surface, it brought back the painful memories of the last night I spent with my parents before the car crash. My smil
