For a moment, I really thought that one of those damn rogues outside the door had busted me, but when I looked up ready to defend myself, my eyes surprisingly landed on freaking Chase. “What the hell?” I whispered to him, as I caught myself before almost losing my balance on the ladder from the shock of his sudden presence.
One of his fingers quickly moved to his lips, as his head turned in the direction of the back door to the concession stand. I froze in place, worried about making a single sound, knowing that if I did, I wouldn’t now just be giving up my own location, but my brother’s, too. Both of us remained frozen in place for a few seconds, before Chase turns back to me, and ushers me with his free hand to get a move on it. Turning around, Chase began to follow me down the ladder
