Honestly, I don’t remember much of what transpired after that moment of being reunited with Mazie and Cash, but somehow, we all, including Jacob, made it out of those hills of West Virginia alive thanks to Carl and his people. As for Lexi, it was like she had disappeared into thin air, and if I was being honest, it was probably for the best, because there wasn’t a single damn one of us that didn’t want to strangle her to death.
Beyond tired and exhausted, I believed that all of us just wanted to head back to Beaumont and sleep in our own beds, but none of us were healed enough to travel at least for the night. Unfortunately, we couldn’t stay at the bigfoots’ camp, as it wasn’t safe for any of us to be in those woods, especially with what had just happened.
