But what first caught my attention were the walls.
They were covered with tapestries, parchments, and paintings, from canvases to framed photographs, in black and white and in color, of very varied sizes. There was an old bookcase on the opposite wall, on the other side of the table; enormous, loaded with horrible and heavy books, also from all eras. The central table in the room was very long and polished, made of dark, solid wood, with high-backed cushioned chairs upholstered in red velvet. Perhaps fifty people could sit there. Probably the most impressive thing of all was the floor, carved stone with designs that in that light I could not perceive clearly, but they seemed like battle scenes…
I don’t know, for a moment I felt transported to a medieval castle or a Harry Potter movie.
