I closed the front door with the distant sound of engines moving along the rural road in my ears. Cars that were five or six kilometers away from me. Anya was taking too long. Usually she would be home by five, just in time to bathe and have dinner together. But six o’clock came and she hadn’t even sent a message to say she would be late. It didn’t surprise me, though.
