Gina “Good girl.” Victor’s voice disappeared beneath a burst of static, but the satisfaction in those two words lingered in the penthouse long after the line went silent. Zander reached for the phone so quickly that it nearly slid off the counter. “Victor?” No answer. “Where is Aaron Vale?” The call disconnected. For several seconds, nobody moved.
