Nova Aaron called while I was driving Lila to her appointment with Dr. Lloyd, so I ignored it. That wasn’t a conversation I was going to have in front of my daughter. I’d had to take Lila out of school for the appointment today. It was easier than getting time off work after school. In second grade, it wasn’t too big of a deal, but I knew that as she got older, taking her out of school for a couple hours once every two weeks wouldn’t be sustainable.
