Nova
I stood up so fast my chair tipped over. “The girls?” I asked. That was the only reason I could think for Dominic to be interrupting my date.
“Asleep,” Dominic answered, “and safe with Adam.”
Relief flooded my system, quickly replaced by confusion. I looked to Colby as he stopped next to the gazebo steps, but he just shrugged, clearly not knowing what was going on either.
“He just called and demanded to know where you were,” he offered by way of explanation.
Then Dominic walked right by him, stomping up the stairs to the gazebo. Aaron was quick then to stand and step in front of me. The protective movement was unnecessary, but kind of sweet.
“Nova,” Dominic barked, “do you know who this is?”
