Kendrick The door closed behind me with a soft click, but it echoed like thunder in my ears. I leaned against it for a moment, letting the silence press against my spine, heavier than it had any right to be. Kimberly’s words still clung to me like thorns sharp, bitter, honest. Her voice hadn’t been loud, but it didn’t need to be. It carried all the weight of the damage I had caused. I didn’t blame her for it. Hell, I didn’t even blame her for hating me. I blamed myself.
