The surgery lasted for seven hours, and it was already afternoon. I was completely exhausted and famished with hunger, but I was equally happy that Mr. Anderson was able to pull through. “Nice job, Doctor Meadow. Now I see why you are the best surgeon in the world,” Doctor Zane said as we walked out of the theater together. “Thanks, Doctor Zane. It was a team effort, not just me. You also contributed to the success of the surgery,” I replied politely. Ethan and his mother ran up to us. “How’s my dad? Is he going to be okay?” he asked. His mother ran up to me, her eyes red, probably from crying or worrying too much about her husband. “Meadow, how’s my husband? Is he okay? Is he still alive?” she asked. “Yes, Mrs. Anderson. The surgery was a success, and Mr. Anderson is in the ICU now.
