The offer for Cora to hold the box and keep it safe had a few meanings.
One was to show her that I trusted her, not just in words but in action, and giving her my treasured box of memories, those memories were in my mind and heart, and glancing at them when feeling nostalgic kept Dianne alive inside me, trying to fill that void in my heart that nothing and no one had filled since I lost her.
Since meeting Cora, she had started to fill a spot I didn't know was empty. I always thought that ache was for Dianne, but it seems some of it was for the child I let go of, too.
