The intercom kept us chatting away for the whole trip. Demetri even apologised for not contacting me to say he would not be home or that he was interested in Scones. I told him he was a grown man and didn't need me checking up on where he was or whether he was coming home. I understood that changes can happen quickly, and I wouldn't have been his first thought when Scones showed interest, too.
I get it, and I wasn't upset at all. We had plenty of time to get to know each other better. It was very emotional the first day, and the photos of him and mum together in their youth. I appreciated the break.
