Ruby (Red) POV
I was exhausted, too long in labour; the baby felt stuck in the canal, and I was fully dilated, yet the baby couldn't come.
Once I agreed to let James break the water, which I thought would hurt, everything blurred. James spread my legs and did something that made a little water gush out, but it released pressure inside me.
The baby came quickly, in what James called a wet birth. James laid him on my belly and gave Demetri the scissors, and Demetri cut the cord, then he picked the baby back up.
The baby was in James's arms, covered in a mess, and his face was a little blue as James worked on clearing his mouth and rubbed his little body; it seemed too long. There was no slap on his backside, like you see in the movies, just James working to get my baby to breathe.
