If she brought it, it would mean she was making this place her permanent home, and, hopefully, would eventually be wearing my name on a woman's cut. Overjoyed that Cora put in an offer straight away, I left to do the paperwork. It didn't shock me as much as it should have that she could pay five million in cash; we had talked about her mother's death one night, and Cora had mentioned that her mother had provided for her. That told me a lot, but learning about her dad, after all these years, that he had still been sending money to an account she never touched, just thought it was another business deal paying off. That surprised her; the account and money were from her real dad. C
