Gunner sounds a little lost and confused; no way who I am now recognised to be has any bearing on who he is, and his earned status.
"No, you stand on your own merit; who I am doesn't come into it. No one knows me; I could be a man's nightmare to strangers. I know that if I do go with Dad, I will not go as I was, but as who I want to be. I won't be intimidated or bossed around anymore; those days stop today. No more Bluey-type people ruining my life; that woman was too much for me from day one, and all the guys backed her attitude, which to me was all wrong. They have allowed her to evolve into that person. Like a spoilt child who throws tantrums and gets what Preview she wants in the end, that's not a life for me.
