"What does that mean?" I asked, not understanding the symbol besides Ruby's name.
"It means her father might be some high-ranking official who doesn't want the world to know that she exists. Probably a married man with a family of his own, and taking on a mistress's child would be too great a shame for him." Demetri replied, knowing digging deeper might only cause Ruby more pain, and that leaving it alone was the better choice.
"What can we do? Ruby lied, telling us some sob story about her childhood. Can you live with that? Will you approach her with this?" I wouldn't want to be lied to like that.
"Dig deeper, find out where she grew up? There has to be more to her than a closed, restricted file." Demetri had access to many information systems most people can't get
