My heart broke for Dad. I never thought I would ever see a tear fall from his eyes. As much as he said he was okay and over the loss of Dianne, today invoked memories and pain beyond his expectations. Dad thought this was a journey of discovery, of Mum's life after they separated; instead, it brought home to him all that he had promised and lost.
This meant nothing personal to me, so it didn't hurt me as deeply as Dad.
But it still hurt to see Dad like this, and Ruby was unsure what to do.
The rings were exquisite; I would have been proud to wear them for what they represented.
Mother must have been crazy not to jump at the chance to be back with Dad.
