It was good to talk with Dad about Ruby.
He had been worried about her; he cares a lot and even said the word 'love,' but with all this talk about Mum. It brought his feelings for Mum to the surface, and he was comparing his first-love feelings to now; it was rushed with Ruby, and I was a little jealous and upset that he spent so much time with Ruby. Before I slapped myself, saying Dad deserved a love life too. But as I told Dad, it would be different because he loved Mum deeply, and he left her unwillingly; over time, in his mind, he had made Mum into something more, putting her on a pedestal that Ruby couldn't even begin to climb or compare to.
Dad had to review his ideas between Mother and Ruby- remember, Ruby was moody, and a large part could be the pregnancy, but
