Matthew, Mr. Russell, and I all stand and wait for Hope to calm Tanya.
“Are you staying?” Tanya asks when she finally pulls away.
“Of course. I wanted to surprise you, but maybe it would have been better if you’d known I was coming,” Hope says, leading Tanya back into her dressing room.
“I’m just so glad you’re here. I know Micah is gone, but I …”
“I understand, Tanya. He’s not here. Mr. Northway killed him,” Hope tells her.
She nods and takes a deep breath. I can hear the crowd shouting for her. However, when she looks in the mirror, she realizes that she’s a mess.
“Dad!” she says.
“I’ll get the makeup team back in here, Tanya. Just relax,” he says, and goes off to get whoever is going to transform Tanya into a pop star rather than a terrified woman.
