After Alpha Liam and Luna Angel left, Matthew called us over to talk about our exit strategy.
“Hope, a moment,” Mr. Russell says, stopping her as we pass.
Since this is her job, I don’t want to overstep. So, when she doesn’t act like she needs me to stay, I continue over to Matthew, but I listen as Mr. Russell addresses her.
“Thank you, Hope. I didn’t truly understand how valuable having a shifter as a guard would be. But you have more than proven your worth and your dedication to protecting my daughter. I just wanted you to know that I appreciate your sacrifice and I won’t underestimate you again.”
I look at Matthew and raise an eyebrow. He grins but quickly wipes it off his face.
“Thank you, Mr. Russell,” Hope says.
