Matthew approached me yesterday and asked if I was feeling like he was, like this place was healing me. I hadn’t considered that the change I was feeling was healing. For me, it felt like I was finally safe. For some reason, being surrounded by supernatural beings, even sweet, gentle beings like sprites, makes me feel safe in a way I haven’t since Micah kidnapped me.
Maybe it’s Hope’s presence here. Maybe it’s that the elves are very tall and even through they’re lean, I’ve watched them sparring. They are all very powerful warriors. Or maybe it’s having a Guardian around. Whatever the reason, I feel safe again. The vice around my heart has finally eased and I feel like I can breathe.
