Rowan I hesitated. My hand froze just above the handle to my bedroom door while my heart thundered violently inside my chest. An unfamiliar emotion curled low in my stomach and spread like poison through my veins. Fear. Trepidation. What would I find when I walked through this door? Would she be here? Would she tell me to leave? Part of me already knew the answer, but I took a slow breath and twisted the knob anyway.
