Velvet laughed lightly as she shook her head.
"We help our sisters," she told Trix before looking at me. "I would have offered to you, but I guess we thought Cutter had you covered."
"Honestly, I have no idea what you guys are talking about," I told her. "I don't even know what a bonnet is. Unless you mean the head things that women wore back in the 1800s."
The three of them blinked at me for a moment.
"Sorsh... what do you do to take care of your hair?" Saylor asked.
"Wash it?" I replied with a shrug. "Dad says a wide-tooth comb helps. My friend Liv did something to it before I left the community, but I couldn't tell ya what."
"Your dad... never told you how to take care of your hair?" Trix asked gently.
"You guys act like I haven't washed my hair in weeks or something," I muttered
