"I'm not saying you can't talk to War," Cutter said. "But he ain't here right now."
"Where is he?" I asked.
And what the hell kind of name is War? Or Cutter, for that matter?
I remember when I asked Dad about his road-name. Tinker. I thought it was cute. Like Tinkerbell. We might not have had TV growing up in the community, but we had books. Neverland was one of my favorites.
That was when Dad explained what a road-name was. He told me it was something every member had, and people called the members by those names out of respect. He said that the members got them usually by doing something stupid and funny, or if they had a quirky personality. Like Dad, who liked to work with his hands and make stuff.
