Savage scoffed at Elio again, but I spoke before he could.
"Trouble told us about you," I said. "All of you. He told us about how Iris always treated Dove better than Sabel. He told us how Sabel used to think you were the only person on her side. He told us how good of a dad you were, how close you and Sabel were, how she looked up to you and admired you. You were her hero."
"I-I know, I-"
"And you let her down in the worst fu.cking way." I cut Elio off.
"You don't understand. Dove, she needed-"
"Dove needed extra love and attention, yeah, yeah," I interrupted him again, annoyed. "Tell me Elio, why is it always Dove who gets the free pass and understanding while Sabel's pushed aside and told to be stronger?"
