"Kaizen... I have to know why you're doing this," I said softly. "You've been like this since day one. I don't understand it. You barely know me, but you say you know everything. You're awfully pushy and clingy for someone who's apparently never had feelings before. I just... I don't get it. Why me? What is it about me? Are you just doing this because you feel bad for me? Are you trying to use me for something?"
Those last two questions hurt the most. I mean, if he just wants in my pants, that's one thing. Typical of a male. But doing all this out of pity would really fu.cking crush me. And if Kaizen knows about Uncle Giovanni and my connection to him... maybe that's what he really wants from me.
