"I'm Jayde," I told Sabel right before biting into a piece of chicken so delicious and juicy I moaned loudly and unashamed.
"I know," she replied with a smile as she sat on the edge of my bed.
"Did Baffle tell you?" I asked, more curious to know what he said about me than anything else.
Sabel's smile did something strange. It twitched and changed. Almost into something knowing. I just wasn't sure what she knew.
"Well, Lacey and Maggie told me first, but yeah, Baffle too," she said. "He mentioned you guys talked."
"He said all the kids are safe and back home," I said, pausing mid-bite to wait for confirmation.
