Nadine's P.O.V.

None of us replied. Or even moved. Except Odie, who was too young to understand the sudden tension. She tried to peer around my legs, but I stepped in her way. I turned around to face the voice, trying my best to shield Odie.
"Did I just hear a kid in here call you mommy?" she asked as she took a step closer and then another.
"That's close enough, Delight," I said when she tried to take another step. My voice was light, but had an edge to it. It wasn't a warning, it was an order that I expected her to follow and she knew it.
Delight scoffed, but stopped. Her eyes narrowed as she tried to look at Odie behind my legs.
"Who the hell do you think you are?" she asked. "This is more my home than yours. I'm more wanted here than you are."
