Just when I fumbled for my phone on the counter, my front door opened.
"Hey Naddy, you got an extra blanket I can borrow for Ty and Es? They passed out."

The relief that momentarily flooded me was overwhelming and made my head spin.
"Naddy, you already asleep?" River called out.
"H-h-hel... h-help!" I called out weakly.
Finally, River came down the hall. His eyes widened in horror when he saw me on the floor surrounded by blood.
"Nadine! Holy sh.it! Are you okay?" He rushed out as he dropped to his knees. I shook my head frantically, unable to form words right now. "It's okay. It's going to be okay. I'm going to get you to a hospital, okay?"
