"You can't keep avoiding me Sunshine," I said as I finally caught Nadine alone in the kitchen doing up a few dishes left in the sink.
"Jesus!" She exclaimed as she jumped a foot in the air. She turned around to glare at me, and I beamed at her, happy to finally have those sparkling eyes on me again. "You scared the hell out of me."
"If you knew I was coming, you'd run," I said as I made my way to her before she could actually do that. "We need to talk, Sunshine," I said as I placed my hands on the counter on either side of her, boxing her in. "Not about the usual thing I wanna talk about either. We need to talk about that promise you made me."
