I was failing miserably. "I want to paint the house with dark colors," Lux said after a long silence. "I think it'll look good with the dark hard wood and the whole Victorian theme." "We can pick out color splotches when we go to shop for furniture," I offered. "Okay." Silence again. It wasn't as heavy, but my worry was starting to grow. I think Lux is dissociating. I don't know what to do about that. I love that she's thinking about our house, planning for our future in a way, but I'm not sure that it's healthy. "Lux-" I started, but she cut me off. "I think I want it all." "All?" I asked, confused. "Yeah," she replied, finally — finally! — looking at me with those endless black eyes. "I want the house. I want the life. With you. I want your property cut. I want to get married.
