Nadine's P.O.V.

"How's the pain, Nadine?" Dr. Solano asked as she came into the room.
"Bad," Saylor replied for me as my doctor moved between my spread legs. "Her contractions are only a minute apart now."
"She's ready to push," Dr. Solano said from between my legs.
"No!" I shouted. "Claire isn't here yet! I-I can't do this without her!"
I've been in labor for about four hours now. It's painful. More painful than anything I've ever experienced in my life. I'm freaking out and crying. I knew it would be bad, but nothing prepares you for this. It's not just painful, it's terrifying. I'm trying not to freak out.
And the worst part? There's only been one person on my mind through it all. One person who doesn't deserve an ounce of my attention at all. O
