We returned to the car and drove back to Ash Hollow Complex in silence. The resort had been paradise for three days, and now it felt like something we had stolen and lost too quickly. My heart stayed in my mouth the entire drive, but I kept quiet because Kael needed space with his thoughts. The moment we got home, Elena and Nolan came to the apartment. Elena was crying, and Nolan looked worried. I knew immediately that they knew. My brother hugged me tightly.
“Darius told us what that Moreau b***h did,” Nolan said, patting my back. “But you have his protection. He came through this time.”
