Together, we returned downstairs and joined the celebration for Noah, William and Olivia. The house felt alive. Laughter filled the rooms, and everyone wanted a chance to hold the triplets. Nolan hovered around them like an anxious guard, while Elena watched him with amusement. For the first time in what felt like ages, no one was discussing death, challenges or war. We were celebrating new life.
Kael and I wanted to remain with our guests, but after two days of travelling between Ironbridge and Derbyshire, exhaustion finally caught up with us. We retired early. I entered the bathroom to shower, and Kael followed me without invitation. “You have your own shower,” I reminded him.
