I placed the nappies on the counter.
“Hey,” I greeted again.
“How is your wife?” Sam asked as he scanned them.
“She is doing well,” I answered.
He waited for Darius and Nolan to finish choosing their items so he could put everything through together.
“And how is fatherhood treating you?” Sam asked.
I pointed at the nappies. He laughed heartily.
“I have to warn you, it never becomes easy,” he said.
His answer was not encouraging, but I was willing to face every difficult part of parenthood with Sienna. Whatever happened, the four of us would build a good life together.
“I need your help with something,” I said, leaning closer as though I had only just remembered.
Sam immediately became attentive.
“Of course, Marvin. What do you need?”
I was still not used to being called Marvin.
