I had been worried since our guests left. Learning the truth about Viktor and the demands he had made of the packs took away some of the peace I had found in Livingston. I knew Kael too well to believe he would remain here if Darius and Nolan were forced into a war. He might not belong to Silverlake, but he considered them family, and Kael would never sit safely at home while people he loved were fighting for their lives. That frightened me because I knew none of them would survive against Viktor.
