Howls filled Greenwood, shaking the trees, rolling over the garden, through the open windows of the packhouse, across the land that had watched our family grow from broken pieces into this impossible, noisy miracle.
Ella wiped her face with both hands, then looked at her brother’s back.
“Oh, absolutely yes.”
Before anyone could stop her, she climbed onto Caius.
Alaric growled.
I growled.
Ella ignored both of us.
“I’m fine,” she said, settling against the black fur like she had been born to ride her brother into trouble. “He won’t drop me.”
