Two Weeks Later Briar POV We all sit silently in the courtroom waiting for Lucy's trial to begin. Derek sits on one side of me and Calob on the other. Calob's mother and father are sitting next to him. The D.A. spoke with us this morning and was certain he could convince the judge to impose the maximum sentence if the jury convicts Lucy. He also was confident that with Tony's testimony that the jury will find her guilty. I say a silent prayer that both of those things happen today. Fifteen minutes later, a door at the far end of the courtroom opens. Lucy is led inside by a large man who I assume is the bailiff. He leads her to the table on the opposite side of the room from us. Our eyes meet once she takes her seat next to a woman, I assume is her lawyer. She glares at me with nothing
