Evan and Zoey were both seated in the back seat while I was in the front passenger seat. I kept looking back at Evan to see how he was doing.
His eyes were still heavily shut as he embraced himself with the jacket I let him wear.
“What happened to him?” Wade questioned.
“I don’t know either,” I began, shrugging. “I left them with Mandy because I needed to work extra hours at the restaurant and when I came back they were already asleep. But before I could sleep with them, I noticed Evan’s whimpering and had a high fever,” I explained, hugging myself as the coldness of my wet clothes began to hit me.
I didn’t notice that almost half of my shirt was wet because of the heavy rain outside while my hair was dripping wet causing me to shiver in coldness.
