“Yes, I’m coming immediately,” I said before ending the phone call.
I removed my apron and searched for my bag to leave. When I got out of the break room, the usual number of customers were still the same. I tried searching for my manger to inform him that I will be leaving early today, but he’s nowhere around to be seen.
My heart was pounding, worried that Evan and Zoey might be in danger once again. I promise myself I won’t make the same mistake I did that resulted in them getting kidn*pped.
Left with no choice, I just ended up asking Sarah to tell our manager that I need to leave early because of some important matter.
She just nodded with her eyes still focused on the cashier monitor as if she wasn’t paying attention to what I was saying.
