The gesture was practiced, natural, like he’d done it a thousand times before.
“Let’s go,” Jericho said calmly.
He had grown accustomed to taking care of his little sister over the years.
“Won’t you get wet?” Zarelle asked, concern in her eyes as she looked up at him.
Jericho shook his head. “I’ll be fine.”
A warm feeling spread in Zarelle’s heart, melting away some of the tension from the meeting.
