Just as her voice trailed off, Arlan and Calden strolled over, walking side by side.
Their footsteps echoed in the nearly empty car park, punctuated by the steady drip of rain from the building’s overhang.
“Hey, Veronica, has Zarelle left?” Arlan spotted her and quipped, “Why is this mutt still here?”
He gestured at Pitchy with an amused expression.
“Zarelle forgot to take Pitchy with her.” Veronica patted the dog’s head protectively.
The robotic dog leaned into her touch, his tail wagging slowly.
Arlan clicked his tongue in disapproval before asking, “The guy who left with her, do you know what’s going on between those two?”
His tone was casual, but there was genuine curiosity underneath.
“You mean Miss Feymere and Doctor Stormy?” Veronica asked
