Calden had expected a stronger reaction from Zarelle, but her detached demeanour caught him off guard.
“All right, Alpha Ashmoor, I’ll need to get back to work now. So, if you don’t mind…” Zarelle walked over to the door and held it open, the implication obvious.
Calden had said what he came to say, and any further interference could potentially backfire. Reluctantly, he took his leave.
As Zarelle sat before her computer, her mind couldn’t help but dwell on Calden’s revelation. If his claims were true, then the Aldex family was terrifying, treating human lives as disposable.
