Colton’s POV
Caden stopped at a convenience store to grab some snacks for the kids to have at the park. I stayed in the SUV with the kids while he ran in. So we hadn’t gone too far when the calls came in. Caden had just started the SUV back up when his phone rang about two seconds after mine. Emma was speaking quietly, as was Parker, but we both heard the panic they were clearly trying to hide.
Caden immediately turned back and went straight to our parents’ house. I knew he was just as worried as I was, but we've always been able to stay calm in stressful situations. I called dispatch and confirmed they were en route. I felt relief when dispatch advised that, per my mother, not to come in with their sirens. That was smart.
